Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique which involves the burning of Chinese mugwort (Artemesia argyi or A.vlugaris) , called " Moxa" , to facilitate healing. Moxibustion has been used throughout Asia for thousands of years; in fact, the actual Chinese character for acupuncture, translated literally, means "acupuncture-moxibustion." The purpose of moxibustion is to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of qi, and maintain general health.  Practitioners generally hold a burning moxa stick or moxa burner close to the surface of the skin over specific areas, often, though not always, corresponding to certain acupuncture points. Acme Acu uses smokeless moxa sticks with or without a moxa burner. This treatment  has the advantage of being a nearly smokeless, nontoxic, gentle heat release with strong permeability.
